The Ancient Meso- and South American collection at the Brooks includes art from indigenous cultures that lived in Central and South America between approximately 3000 B.C.E. and 1530 C.E. It features mainly ceramics from cultures such as Nazca, Colima, Moche, Maya, Veracruz, Teotihuacan, Inca, Chancay, Aztec, and Nicoya. Particularly noteworthy objects in the collection are a copper mask from the Sicán culture of north Coastal Peru, a Chancay ceramic female standing funerary figure, and an Incan feathered tabard or tunic.
